Nannie Berry Elementary

“Getting better all the time” isn’t just something that happens here at school. It’s a motto that we hope our students carry home with them. Nannie Berry teachers create a great learning environment for kids by working in partnership with families- asking families for feedback, collaborating together, and providing two-way communication. We want to help your child reach the goals you have set as a family, and we know we can’t do that without your input and support.

As early as elementary, we are setting the stage for a world of opportunities and a future of possibilities for every single child. “Work hard and have fun, too!” Words from my father became a lifelong mission that I hope to instill in the students at Nannie Berry Elementary. We will work hard every day to ensure that students are accomplishing new learning that will help them reach their future goals. At the same time, we have fun, create new memories, and build traditions that will last a lifetime!

I grew up mostly in Texas and attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. Since 2010, I’ve been lucky enough to call Hendersonville home, where I’ve been raising my three kids in Sumner County Schools. As a teacher, I’ve taught kindergarten, first, third, and fifth grades, focusing on authentic learning opportunities and a child-centered approach to education. I also served teachers and children as an instructional coach and as an elementary instructional coordinator. This gave me a great opportunity to see the tremendous work happening across Sumner County, including from our amazing Nannie Berry teachers and staff. My husband and I can often be found at Drakes Creek Park soccer fields and on the cross country track at Sanders Ferry Park. If you see us at sporting events, be sure to say, “Hi.” Most of all, I am excited and proud to be part of the strong community here at Nannie Berry Elementary!

Sincerely,

  Susan Kolmer
