About the Tennessee Timeline

This Tennessee Historical Timeline was written by fourth grade students (May, 2000) not only to summarize what they had learned, but to serve as an age appropriate source to other students.  The students researched their "moment in time" using a variety of sources, including the Internet.  With guidance from classroom teachers, paragraphs were written at each student's ability level.  The students were entranced by the notion that other students might use their work as a resource in their Tennessee studies and labored to do their best.  It is our hope that by learning about events in the past students will come to respect their state and work to improve and take care of it in the future.
