NO BULLYING / PARENT ORIENTATION INFORMATION
DEFINITION: Bullying happens whenever someone uses his or her power unfairly and repeatedly to hurt someone.
Power can be physical, social, or verbal.
BULLYING BEHAVIORS: 1. Hurting someone’s body or things. 2. Hurting someone’s friendships. 3. Hurting someone’s feelings.
SCHOOL PROCEDURE: The following procedure will be followed to assist students in taking responsibility for their behavior.
1. Student reports bullying to their supervising teacher. 2.Teacher conferences with students involved, resolve the incident and contacts parents. 3. Teacher completes a “Bullying Referral” form for documentation. 4. If bullying reoccurs, classroom teacher will notify school counselor and send a copy of the referral form. 5. Counselor will conference with student(s) involved, create an action plan and document on the referral form. 6. If this type of behavior continues, student will be referred to Dr. Kimble for disciplinary action.
To kick off our school-wide no bullying policy, we are pleased to have “Kids on the Block” present an informative program designed to explain bullying, introduce problem solving techniques, encourage students to discuss situations of concern and empower all students to help each other put a stop to bullying. This presentation will be for all grade levels on Tuesday, 8/29/06. |
