Welcome

Hello.  My name is Mrs. Melissa Johnson, and I have been teaching since 1997.  I am certified to teach both special education, K-12, as well a regular education, K-8.  I have taught in both capacities and with different ages, but 3rd grade is my favorite.

Third grade is a big year.  Many adults look back on it as a milestone year, and I believe that is much deserved.  It is a year filled with new material and many added responsibilities.  Among a long list of things, students will learn multiplication facts, how to write in cursive, functions of specific parts of a plant, how plants and animals depend on each other, where they get their energy, mixtures and chemical reactions, imports and exports, the difference between a money and barter economy, and recognize major global concerns.

I have high expectations for every student in my class.  I expect them to be at school ready to do their job to the very best of their ability, and I expect them to accept responsibility for their actions and choices.

I look forward to a fantastic year of new discoveries and personal growth.
