Procedural and Behavioral Policy for 5th Grade

Procedures

Procedures are defined as those supplies, preparations, and/or student responsibilities that create an educational environment contusive to efficient use of class time.

Each student will have a copy of the procedural expectations.  Each time a student does not meet the expectations; the student will complete a preprinted index card that details the expectation not met.  After 3 procedural cards in one 6-week period, a student will have an essay to copy that is directly related to the procedures not followed. A letter to the parent advising them of the assigned essay will be sent and must be returned signed with the completed essay. If the student does not complete the essay and/or return the signed parent letter within 2 nights then a detention will be assigned to that student.  If a student has an additional 3 procedural cards during the same 6 weeks, then a detention will be assigned.

Each child starts over every 6 weeks.

Behavior

Behavior shall be defined as those actions, which follow the Nannie Berry handbook, and areas for improvement as stated on the report card.

Each student will have a copy of the behavioral expectations.  Each time a student does not meet the expectations; the student will complete a preprinted index card that details the expectation not met.  After 3 behavior cards in one 6-week period, a student will have an essay to copy that is directly related to the behavior not followed. A letter to the parent advising them of the assigned essay will be sent and must be returned signed with the completed essay. If the student does not complete the essay and/or return the signed parent letter within 2 nights then a detention will be assigned to that student.  If a student has an additional 3 behavioral cards during the same 6 weeks, then a detention will be assigned rather than a second essay.

Each child starts over every 6 weeks.
